ASTRONEWS REPORT ✦ ALIGN ✦ INSPIRE ✦ EMPOWER
September 2026
“Autumn doesn’t rush the leaves to fall, it simply stops holding them so tightly. May you learn the same grace this month: releasing what no longer serves, and trusting what remains is exactly enough.” ~ AstroNana

THIS MONTH’S THEMESeptember arrives like the first cool breath after a long summer exhale, and this year the sky beautifully mirrors that shift.
This month’s theme
September arrives like the first cool breath after a long summer exhale, and this year the sky beautifully mirrors that shift.
We begin the month still carrying some of summer’s intensity, but September quickly asks us to become more discerning about what we carry forward. On September 10, Venus enters deep, transformative Scorpio, Mercury enters thoughtful Libra, Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini, and the Virgo New Moon arrives later that evening. It is an extraordinary concentration of energy around truth, discernment, awakening, and intentional change.
Venus in Scorpio asks us to look beneath the surface of our relationships and desires. Mercury in Libra reminds us that honesty does not have to be harsh; truth can be spoken with grace. Uranus retrograde turns the process inward, encouraging us to question old assumptions and recognize where our lives are quietly asking for something different. Then the Virgo New Moon gives us the practical wisdom to begin making those changes one small step at a time.
Midmonth, Chiron — the archetypal wounded healer — retrogrades back into Aries, returning us to unfinished lessons around identity, courage, independence, and self-worth. This isn’t necessarily a return to the wound itself. It can be a return to the place where the wound once defined us, so we can discover that it no longer has the same authority over who we are.
Then comes the great seasonal turning point.
On September 22, the Sun enters Libra at the Autumn Equinox. The Sun crosses the celestial equator, marking the astronomical beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. This is nature’s invitation to pause, take stock, and seek a more conscious balance between giving and receiving, activity and rest, holding on and letting go.
The final days of September ignite the fire again.
The Aries Full Moon on September 26 illuminates courage, independence, initiative, and the need to honor our authentic desires. The very next evening, Mars enters Leo, transforming that emotional illumination into creative action and encouraging us to step forward with greater confidence and heart.
Finally, Mercury enters Scorpio on September 30, bringing the month full circle. We end September willing to look beneath the surface once again — asking not merely What happened? but What is the deeper truth asking me to understand?
September’s journey can be summed up beautifully:
Virgo asks: What needs tending?
Scorpio asks: What needs deeper truth?
Libra asks: What needs balancing?
Aries asks: What needs courage?
Leo asks: What am I ready to embody boldly?
This is not simply a month of releasing.
It is a month of sorting the harvest.
We are invited to gather what has grown, recognize what has ripened, lovingly compost what has completed its purpose, and carry only what is truly nourishing into the next season.
Cosmic overview
September 10 — the great cosmic turning point
September 10 deserves special attention.
Within a single day:
Venus enters Scorpio.
Mercury enters Libra.
Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini.
The Virgo New Moon occurs.
That is an extraordinary concentration of symbolism.
Venus says, “Go deeper.”
Mercury says, “Find a wiser way to communicate.”
Uranus says, “Wake up to what needs to change.”
Virgo says, “Now make it practical.”
Together, they create one of September’s strongest messages:
Feel deeply. Think clearly. Wake up. Then choose differently.
Uranus turning retrograde is especially important because its energy turns inward. Instead of demanding immediate external change, we may begin recognizing an internal realization that has been quietly developing for some time.
Sometimes the biggest revolution begins with a very quiet thought:
“I don’t think I want to live this way anymore.”
THIS MONTH’S SKY
9 moments to watch for.
· 4:06 AM EDT · 0° Scorpio
Venus enters Scorpio
Planet changes sign
Venus leaves the airy sociability of Libra behind and steps into the profound waters of Scorpio, where love is no longer satisfied with appearances.
Venus in Scorpio wants truth.
It wants emotional honesty, meaningful intimacy, loyalty, depth, and the courage to acknowledge what exists beneath the surface.
Old patterns involving love, attachment, trust, jealousy, intimacy, or money may become more visible. But visibility is not punishment. Sometimes we cannot transform something until we are willing to see it clearly.
This is powerful energy for asking:
Is this connection nourishing me, or merely familiar?
Am I loving from freedom or from fear?
Am I holding on because something is still alive, or because I am afraid of what comes after letting go?
Venus in Scorpio reminds us that genuine intimacy requires truth.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- Where in my relationships am I still performing rather than being authentic?
- What am I holding onto because of fear rather than genuine love?
- Where am I ready to choose deeper honesty over comfortable appearances?
· 12:20 PM EDT · 0° Libra
Mercury enters Libra
Planet changes sign
Only hours after Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury moves into Libra and changes the tone of our thinking and communication.
Mercury in Libra seeks perspective.
It reminds us that there is often more than one side to a story and that diplomacy does not require abandoning our truth.
This is beautiful energy for mediation, negotiation, writing, listening, repairing misunderstandings, and learning to communicate without turning every disagreement into a battle.
Mercury in Libra asks:
Can I be honest without being unnecessarily harsh?
Can I listen without automatically preparing my defense?
Can I understand another person’s perspective without surrendering my own?
The mature expression of Libra is not people-pleasing.
It is fairness with boundaries.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- Where have I been seeing only one side of a situation?
- How might deeper listening change an outcome?
- Can I honor someone else’s perspective while still honoring my own truth?
· 2:27 PM EDT · 5°41’ Gemini
Uranus stations retrograde
Station
Uranus, the planet associated with awakening, disruption, innovation, liberation, and sudden insight, stations retrograde in Gemini on this already extraordinary day.
When Uranus turns retrograde, the revolution becomes more internal.
We may question beliefs we once accepted automatically.
We may suddenly recognize that an old way of thinking no longer fits the person we have become.
A new idea may arrive quietly.
A truth we have been avoiding may become impossible to ignore.
And sometimes the breakthrough isn’t:
“I need to change everything.”
Sometimes it is simply:
“I finally understand what needs to change.”
Uranus in Gemini particularly emphasizes the worlds of thought, communication, information, learning, technology, and perspective.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What belief am I beginning to outgrow?
- Where has my thinking become too rigid for the person I am becoming?
- What new idea keeps returning to my mind for a reason?
· 11:27 PM EDT · 18°25’ Virgo
New Moon in Virgo
New Moon
After an extraordinary day of planetary movement, the New Moon arrives in practical, discerning Virgo.
What a perfect place for a new beginning.
Virgo doesn’t ask us to reinvent our entire lives overnight.
Virgo asks:
What small thing can I do differently tomorrow?
This New Moon is especially supportive for intentions involving health, routines, organization, work, service, discernment, boundaries, and creating systems that make life more manageable.
But Virgo has an important higher lesson:
Improvement is not the same thing as perfection.
We do not need to criticize ourselves into becoming better.
We can care for ourselves into becoming stronger.
After the intensity of Venus, Mercury, and Uranus on this same day, the Virgo New Moon offers a practical landing place.
The September 10 sequence:
Venus: Feel deeply.
Mercury: Communicate wisely.
Uranus: Awaken.
Virgo New Moon: Make it real.QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What small, sustainable change would improve my daily life?
- What routine has become more burdensome than beneficial?
- Where can I offer service without abandoning myself in the process?
- What would caring for myself look like if I stopped demanding perfection?

Chiron retrograde back into Aries
Planet changes sign
Chiron began its first journey into Taurus in June, but its retrograde motion brings it back into Aries in September, where it will remain until April 2027.
This is significant because Chiron has spent years working through Aries themes of identity, independence, courage, self-assertion, and the right to exist as ourselves.
This return isn’t necessarily regression.
It can be completion.
Imagine walking back through an old room in your life and discovering that although the room looks familiar, you are no longer the same person who lived there.
That is Chiron’s invitation.
Old sensitivities may surface around:
- being seen
- standing up for yourself
- taking initiative
- trusting your instincts
- feeling worthy of attention
- allowing yourself to want what you want
- knowing when to say “yes” and when to say “no”
But this time, we have something we didn’t have before:
experience.
The wound may be familiar.
The response doesn’t have to be.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What old wound around my identity is asking to be understood rather than relived?
- Where am I still seeking permission to be myself?
- What would courage look like if it came from self-respect rather than defensiveness?

Sun enters Libra — Autumnal Equinox
Season
Here it is! The great turning point of the month.
At 8:05 PM EDT, the Sun enters Libra and the September equinox occurs.
Astronomically, the September equinox occurs as the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving southward.
Symbolically, however, this moment carries another beautiful message:
Balance.
The equinox reminds us that life is not meant to be perpetual summer.
There is a season for growth.
A season for harvest.
A season for release.
And eventually, a season for rest.
Libra teaches us that balance isn’t about making everything equal. Sometimes balance means recognizing that something has received enough of our energy.
Sometimes peace requires a boundary.
Sometimes harmony requires an honest conversation.
Sometimes love requires letting go.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- Where in my life is balance asking for my attention?
- What have I grown this year that deserves to be celebrated?
- What am I ready to release as the season changes?
- Where would a healthy boundary create more harmony rather than less?
· 12:49 PM EDT · 3°37’ Aries
Full Moon in Aries
Full Moon
The Full Moon shines brightly in Aries, illuminating courage, independence, initiative, desire, and the powerful need to honor our authentic selves.
Full Moons reveal.
They illuminate what has been building beneath the surface and can bring emotional clarity around matters that have been developing since the corresponding New Moon cycle began.
Aries doesn’t whisper.
It asks:
What do YOU want?
Not what will make everyone happy.
Not what will prevent conflict.
Not what someone else expects.
What is true for you?
This doesn’t mean acting impulsively or selfishly.
Healthy Aries knows the difference between self-respect and self-centeredness.
The courage of Aries is not simply having the nerve to fight.
It is having the courage to begin.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- Where have I been waiting for permission that I don’t actually need?
- What desire have I been minimizing?
- Where is my life asking me to choose courage over comfort?
- What would healthy self-assertion look like right now?
· 10:48 PM EDT · 0° Leo
Mars enters Leo
Planet changes sign
And then — almost as though the cosmos planned the timing — Mars enters Leo the very next evening.
The Aries Full Moon asks:
“What do you want?”
Mars in Leo answers:
“I Now have the courage to express it.”
Mars is action.
Leo is heart.
Together, they can create bold, passionate, creative momentum.
This is energy for putting yourself forward, creating something meaningful, leading with confidence, protecting what you love, and allowing yourself to be visible.
But Leo has a higher lesson, too.
Being seen isn’t the same thing as demanding attention.
True Leo energy doesn’t need to diminish anyone else in order to shine.
It simply stops apologizing for having light.
Whatever you’ve been quietly developing, September’s final days may encourage you to bring it out of hiding.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- Where have I been dimming my light to remain comfortable?
- What would I create if I knew I didn’t have to be perfect?
- Where am I ready to let my heart lead my courage?
- What deserves to be celebrated rather than continually improved?
· 7:44 AM EDT · 0° Scorpio
Mercury enters Scorpio
Planet changes sign
The month closes where it began, with Scorpio’s invitation to go deeper.
Mercury joins Venus in Scorpio, turning our attention toward what lies beneath appearances.
Small talk may feel less satisfying.
Superficial answers may no longer be enough.
We may want to research, investigate, understand, uncover, and finally speak the truth we’ve been circling around.
This can be powerful energy for meaningful conversations, research, therapy, journaling, spiritual inquiry, and honest self-examination.
But Scorpio teaches us that truth is most powerful when it is used for transformation rather than control.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What conversation have I been avoiding because it requires honesty?
- What truth am I finally ready to acknowledge?
- Where can I replace suspicion with discernment?
- What deeper understanding would set me free?
A DEEPER MESSAGE
If September were telling us a story, I believe it would sound something like this:
First, Virgo asks us to examine our lives carefully.
What is working?
What isn’t?
What needs nourishment?
What needs adjustment?
Then Scorpio asks us to go deeper.
What is underneath the habit?
What is underneath the attachment?
What is underneath the fear?
Then Libra asks us to restore balance.
What deserves equal consideration?
Where have we given too much?
Where have we received too little?
Then Aries asks us to remember ourselves.
What do I want?
What is my truth?
What am I ready to courageously claim?
And finally, Leo asks us to embody it.
Don’t merely know your truth.
Live it.
This is the beautiful progression of September:
Discern
Deepen.
Balance.
Courage and Create
September doesn’t ask us to throw our lives away and start over.
It asks us to become wise harvesters.
To look at everything we’ve grown — the relationships, lessons, experiences, dreams, mistakes, victories, disappointments, and discoveries — and decide what is still nourishing.
Some things belong in the next season.
Some things have completed their purpose.
And some things were never ours to carry in the first place.
The wisdom is knowing the difference.
A PRACTICE FOR THE MONTH
At the beginning of the month, write down three lists:
WHAT I AM KEEPING
The people, habits, beliefs, dreams, and experiences that continue to nourish my life.
WHAT I AM RELEASING
The patterns, expectations, attachments, obligations, and fears whose season has ended.
WHAT I AM BECOMING
The qualities I want to embody as I move into the next chapter.
Then return to those lists around the Autumn Equinox.
You may be surprised by what has changed.
Because sometimes the person we are becoming quietly changes the things we are willing to carry.
MANTRA FOR SEPTEMBER 2026
I release what has served its season, and I trust the wisdom of the turning. Balance is not something I find, it is something I choose to practice and become.
Blessings Always and in All Ways! Love and Light!
